He’s born Vid‘it’!
What happens when you scribble a few pages on one of those nothing-better-to-do-days and they turn into a bestseller? Well, that’s what Vidit Chopra, a student of Amity University, B Tech, 2nd year, Computer Science wizard, writer, gadget freak, blogger and author of ‘The Fanatic Four’, would have us believe. Priya, AUUP brings to you his different facets
Once a writer, always a writer?
I was always interested in writing. I used to write a lot during school and soon it became a hobby. Writing is in my genes. (We told you, he’s born Vid‘it’!) My dad wrote a number of plays, which were performed throughout the country. His play ‘Vama Swaha’ was telecast on DD.
How did ‘The Fanatic Four’ happen? Is it a real story?
I started writing the book on one of those days when there was nothing better to do. I chose the characters, tried to keep them close to reality and formed a fictitious story! Of course, nothing can be purely fiction. There are certain parts of the book, which are close to reality. As for the character of Vidit in the book, I have tried to portray him completely opposite to the way I am in real life.
Observerzparadise.com. What a blog!
OP was a personal blog till a few months back but now it’s an e-zine providing the latest in sports, movie & music reviews, technology etc. I continue to write and share my views about life and things that interest me. The site has gained popularity, but there’s a long way to go.
As a writer, what are the challenges that you face?
The most challenging thing for a writer is keeping the reader involved. Different readers have different choices, some like to analyse the expressions, words and sentences and some want to concentrate more on the story. Striking a perfect balance between the two is a difficult task.
A quote that you believe in...
“Originality is the art of concealing the original.” Nothing actually is original, but is inspired from somewhere or the other. Nothing can ever be 100% original and if it seems so, because the roots of its inspiration are still unknown.
What’s the future: a gadget guru or a writer?
I am a gadget freak. My love for gadgets has been fanned by my cousins Arpit and Gaurav. I might end up being an IT guy, I might still be managing the site, but I know one thing; I will be writing for sure. Who knows, I might end up doing all three!
Parting shot...
I’d like to thank all my friends for being with me and bearing my tantrums; and my Observerz Paradise team for believing in me.
I am grateful to my parents and teachers who have always been there to guide me. Special thanks to all readers and critics, for they are the reason for what I am today.
